Individual Counseling for Kids and Families
Lori will work with your child using a variety of talk, play and art therapy techniques designed to give your child the tools and language they need to express themselves. She will meet regularly with parents as well so that she can support you as you gain perspective on how to best assist your child on their journey.
Social Skills Groups for Girls
A social skills group may be just what your daughter needs to manage her anxiety, shyness and other social struggles at school and with her peers. An ideal group is 4-6 girls around the same age.
Trauma Focused CBT
Lori has been trained in TF-CBT which is an evidence-based treatment for children and adolescents impacted by trauma and their parents or caregivers. Research shows that TF-CBT successfully resolves a broad array of emotional and behavioral difficulties associated with single, multiple and complex trauma experiences.
Camp Readiness
Whether your child is preparing to go away for the summer to sleepaway camp or has anxiety about sleeping at a friends house for the night, you and Lori can focus on the causes, develop strategies and discuss ways to handle the anxiety when it comes on. In addition, Lori can help figure out whether your child with special needs is ready for sleepaway camp, and can assist in choosing a camp, and working with them to assure a smooth transition.
Partnerships with Schools
Lori is available as a consultant to school districts to provide support and resources on a variety of topics including response to traumatic events, teaching social skills, problem solving, bullying, promoting emotional intelligence and test prep/anxiety.
Having an extensive background in working within the education system, Lori can help in navigating the IEP process, acclimating to a new classroom, as well as developing organizational skills, study habits and test prep/managing test nerves.
Testimonials
“I want to thank you so much Lori for everything you've done for me when I was a child. I learned to express myself without expressing it with anger. You've taught me so much! Because of you, I experienced a few great years at Camp Wilbur Herrlich which became another highlight in my life You showed me that it wasn't just a job you actually genuinely cared to save me and make sure a sad broken kid know how it feels to be a kid and have fun like one. Thank you so much Lori! I love you!”

When I speak to Lori, I feel like I'm speaking with a wise, insightful friend. She is so sensitive, thoughtful, and engaging. My daughter and I both felt so comfortable with her right from the start. I love that Lori evaluates situations from multiple angles, and is very creative in her therapy techniques.
